Near infra red imaging is a new frontier in cell imaging. It combines several advantageous features. It has an emission which is beyond the usual background absorption by cells. We have a wide range of NIR probes, each suited for a specific target. The applications are detection of nucleus, mitochondria, lysozymes, etc. Further, these molecules are water soluble, and does not rely on UV lasers for excitation, adding to their non-toxic footprint on the cells under study.
